ABOUT

I am an applied artist, designer-maker, craftswoman, whatever you choose to call me, I stitch stuff by hand. At present I work with fabrics and paper, combining drawing, stitching and print.

Throughout my career, my work has stayed true to my chosen discipline of hand stitching. I taught myself to embroidery from a book, out of the sheer frustration of my early years as a fashion designer. After a period of study in Japan, I learned to stitch my drawings.

Hand stitching is very personal and takes time, I feel that the time taken intrigues people and attracts very close attention to details. I mainly work to-commission illustrating, designing & making for textile companies, artists, interior designers, publishers and private clients. My design business is called Heart Space Studios, and I work with several companies including the Ehrman Tapestry Company and the Kaffe Fassett Collective.

I run specialist drawing workshops that reflect my dual passion for flowers and fabrics, with “show and tell” talks to different craft based societies

For many years I have kept a blog that shows the stories behind the pictures.

Here is my edited CV to show how I got to here.
